It’s a fact that drug rehab is not cheap – especially if you do not have health insurance. Drug rehab facility fees are in the range of a thousand dollars per day – give or take a few hundred dollars. This can be a huge burden if you add it up over a standard stay, which is about 28 days. The ironic part of the cost of drug rehab is that those who typically need drug and alcohol treatment the most are usually without health insurance and do not have the ability to pay out of pocket either. It is possible however to receive a scholarship program to obtain free or discounted drug rehab services. Sometimes it is just a matter of putting in some time and effort to find out what your options are. If you have no money and no health insurance, it doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t receive the addiction treatment you need.

The truth is, most drug and alcohol rehab facilities are operating to make a profit. There are a few private, not for profit drug rehabs where you could possibly seek a scholarship but because there are so few of them, there are not an abundance of scholarships. Don’t just assume that all “for profit” drug treatment centers do not have alternative payment options because truthfully you would be surprised at how they will work with addicts and their families to get them the treatment they need – whether it is helping them to find an available scholarship or to put them into a payment arrangement.

What you will find in the industry is that many of the best drug and alcohol treatment centers are founded and even managed by others who are in recovery from addiction themselves. They completely understand their customers’ situations and they care about people getting the help they need. The administrators at these drug rehabs are often willing to work with those who do not immediately have the ability to pay for their treatment and that often happens in the form of a scholarship. Surprisingly, at any time, a drug rehab will sometimes have as many people staying there on scholarship as they do of other people who are paying out of pocket or with health insurance.

Free drug rehab or scholarships are not something you will see being advertised. If you truly want to find out if a scholarship exists for you for drug or alcohol treatment, you are going to have to ask different treatment centers in your area or speak with a referral service who can help you find an available program to suit your needs.

Using Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance for Alcohol Treatment

The cost of alcohol treatment can get pretty high for a 28 to 30 day stay – and it’s one of the main reasons why those who need addiction treatment often do not get it. Cost is a major consideration when you are in the process of choosing an alcohol rehab and whether or not it is feasible. If you can navigate using health insurance to get alcohol treatment, your out of pocket costs should be little or nothing depending on the policy you have. Blue Cross Blue Shield is a major health insurance provider, and many wonder where they can use their BCBS policies for alcohol treatment and rehab.

Fortunately, most major substance abuse treatment centers accept most insurance policies – especially Blue Cross Blue Shield. If you have specific questions about your health insurance coverage policy, you can contact the alcohol treatment center you want to go to and speak with someone who can help you.

Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance for Alcohol Treatment: Are You Covered?

Obviously, not very many people go out shopping for a health insurance policy that specifically covers addiction treatment. Alcohol treatment, while not a rare request by any means, is not requested to be covered by the majority of policy holders. The fact is however, alcohol treatment – or any addiction program – is a medical expense. Even if not stated outright, it is highly possible that your Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance does cover it – at least partially. Coverage will not be the same for every BCBS policy when it comes to alcohol treatment, but you can certainly call Blue Cross Blue Shield directly to find out what exactly your policy does cover.

Alcohol Rehab Insurance: Is There an Add-On for Alcohol Rehab Only?

As of right now, you will not find a Blue Cross Blue Shield add-on policy which covers just alcohol rehab. If you are asking for such a thing, the insurance provider fears you will have to use it – meaning a high risk for them to insure you and your family. It also touches on the “pre-existing condition” rule that most carriers have, which could exclude you from coverage altogether.

Getting health insurance to cover alcohol treatment can be tricky – but not impossible. It may take a few phone calls and you might get frustrated, but don’t give up. Blue Cross Blue Shield is a reputable insurance provider and many of their policies do cover alcohol treatment.

The effects of cocaine can be felt in short bursts of intense energy and an extremely pleasurable euphoric feeling to the user. There are also feelings of power that are experienced which is part of what entices someone to keep using the drug over and over – ultimately leading to addiction. When it all starts to go downhill, someone who has used cocaine will feel very intense feelings of sadness and depression. This “crash” from the high may go on for several hours and can also cause a person to feel very tired or lazy – so much so that he or she will sleep for several days.

For an addict who wants to get clean, often the question remains – What is the quickest way to detox from cocaine? There is no clear cut answer for every person here. Every individual who struggles with an addiction to cocaine is different and has different needs and issues to deal with. The question then becomes: What is the best way to detox from cocaine? The answer to this question is simple – contact your local detox and treatment center to begin a detox program and take your first step into recovery from substance abuse.

While recovery may seem like a long way away, there is no hard fast way to cure your addiction. Detox from cocaine is not easy and for some it may be quite a struggle. That doesn’t mean you should give up however. There are so many drug and alcohol treatment centers and detox facilities that can assist you with getting clean & sober and staying that way for good. If you are serious about stopping your cocaine use, it takes one phone call and you have help on the line.

Detox from cocaine will involve some unpleasant side effects. Depending on how long you have been using the drug and how much you have been using – the withdrawal symptoms will vary. For some they may be severe and for others the process of detox from cocaine may be very mild with just a few uncomfortable symptoms.

What you need to know is that you should not try to detox from cocaine by yourself. It is best to seek the advice and treatment of a professional who is experienced in dealing with such matters. Going through detox alone is much more difficult than if you opt to have a support system and a team of experts at your disposal to get through the process as quickly and comfortably as possible.

Dealing with the ins and outs of going into a treatment center will likely bring up a lot of questions about the process. One of the most frequently asked questions many have is “what makes a good drug rehab”? Before admitting yourself or a loved one into any drug rehab, there are some things you should consider.

Licensed Facility and Staff

Because unfortunately, there are a handful of drug rehab facilities which are not licensed, you should ask the question. Any good drug rehab will freely discuss their facility’s credentials, staff members’ licensure or experience as well as the success rate of their drug and alcohol treatment programs.

In-House Detox

The first step one will need to take prior to getting drug treatment is detox. The most comprehensive drug rehab facilities provide an in-house detox process, which is very helpful since it should be medically supervised by a doctor or an addiction specialist. The experienced staff who deal with the detox process are invaluable and can help make the transition to drug treatment much more seamless and make the client more comfortable during this vulnerable time.

Cost of Drug Treatment Programs

While the cost of drug rehab should not be the “be all, end all” when you decide on a treatment center, it is important to consider because you will usually be at least partially responsible for payment. Health insurance often covers some or most of drug treatment, but the higher the cost of drug rehab, the more you will likely be paying out of pocket.

Health Insurance Policy

Knowing whether or not the drug rehab you choose will accept your health insurance is very important if you plan to utilize the policy to cover the cost of the drug treatment program. A good drug rehab will accept many different types of insurance policies and not just one or two. A good drug rehab will also have staff that is experienced in helping their clients to maximize their health insurance benefits to lower out of pocket expenses.

Drug Rehab Aftercare/Follow up

Once your drug treatment program is complete, you are going to be more successful in your recovery if you receive ongoing support. A good drug rehab will provide follow up care which may include relapse prevention, 12 step meetings, counseling and more.

Some other things to look for in what makes a good drug rehab, which will vary by personal preference, is amenities, location, and the variety of treatment programs.

One of the main concerns when entering alcohol treatment is whether or not a certain insurance policy or carrier will cover the substance abuse program. If you are wondering if your Cigna insurance policy will be accepted, what you should know is that amongst many other insurance policies, alcohol treatment centers do work with Cigna. Cigna Health Insurance, under most of their policies, does provide behavioral health coverage which is extended to those with alcohol addiction. You will often need to go “out of network” but it can still be done with affordable out of pocket costs.

Cigna is one of the most recognized health insurance companies, especially when it comes to customer care. You can rest assured that if you or your loved one is dealing with an alcohol addiction and alcohol rehab treatment becomes necessary, you will be able utilize your Cigna insurance policy at a variety of substance abuse treatment centers throughout the United States.

If you are unsure as to what your Cigna insurance actually covers when it comes to alcohol treatment – such as inpatient alcohol treatment or outpatient substance abuse programs, it is not as difficult as you may think to get answers. The best alcohol treatment centers, whether locally or out of state, will help you use your Cigna health insurance for addiction treatment by contacting Cigna directly and finding out about the specifics of your coverage. Alcohol treatment centers have staff members who are experienced in dealing with many different health insurance providers to help make entering an alcohol treatment program as easy and quick as possible.

Alcohol treatment can be very costly if health insurance is not utilized. The treatment centers will assist you with using your health insurance benefits in order to maximize coverage and minimize out of pocket costs. You can contact Cigna directly to find out specific information about your policy and to find out if there are any alcohol treatment programs that are considered “in network” to bring costs down even further. Your primary health provider may also be able to assist you in the process, especially if you find that you need a referral for the treatment program to be approved. Cigna health insurance may not always be easy to navigate, as policies are not always clearly defined in terms that are easy to understand, but there is help available to ensure that you or your loved one gets into a treatment program.

Proper substance abuse treatment is not only important, it is vital in order to recover from addiction. Whether it is yourself or a loved one who is struggling with substance abuse and the dependence to alcohol or drugs, the most important thing you need to know is that addiction treatment works and it saves lives. It is a proven method to get sober and stay sober. If you intend to get healthy – to get sober – you have to get professional help.

Addiction affects people from all different communities – from the poor to the rich and everywhere in between. It does not matter if you are male or female and ethnicity makes no difference. The commonality is that addiction treatment for drug addicts, no matter what their circumstances may be, is of the utmost importance if there is to be a lasting recovery. Addiction treatment within the walls of a reputable, quality treatment facility is, more often than not, one’s best shot at long term sobriety.

Going through addiction treatment is not easy, regardless of what you may have heard elsewhere. If your recovery is going to be successful, it will take a lot of hard work. Those who are successful in their recovery take the time and effort in devoting every bit of themselves to the process. Addiction treatment programs work but you have to trust the process. If you go in to a drug and alcohol treatment center believing it will work for you, then it will work for you. It may be the fight of your life, but it will all be worth it.

The failure or success of any addiction treatment program often lies in the addict’s ability to understand dependency itself. If you can’t fight what you can’t see, part of the staff’s mission is to provide accurate information and education. Because of this, the need for quality care in drug and alcohol treatment centers is vitally important. Those going through a treatment program need the support of qualified, experienced professionals in order to work though their issues. The question then should be – how important is quality addiction treatment for addicts because they need all the help they can get in the fight against dependency. The medical doctors, counselors and care givers at high quality addiction treatment centers are really invaluable in saving thousands of lives.

After rehab, you may be advised to attend meetings. These are either Alcohol Anonymous/AA or Narcotics Anonymous/NA. These twelve step group meetings are meant to benefit recovering addicts who are dealing with drug or alcohol addiction. The main purpose of any twelve step group meeting is to help and support all addicts in staying clean and sober. Twelve step group meetings are open to anyone and everyone who is looking for support or advice for addiction. You may be wondering why you have to go to those meetings after rehab. There are many benefits to group NA or AA meetings!

Group Support

Going to twelve step meetings provides support from other recovering addicts who can help you with your own situation. The group structure provides for everyone to give and get support. You can identify with other addicts and you will realize that you are not alone in your recovery.

Education

In your early phases of recovery, these meetings give a new recovering addict the opportunity to listen and learn from other people’s addiction stories. This information is personal and valuable in different ways to different people. You may find that you have been through a very similar situation as someone else and you can relate to what they are going through and draw strength from that. You will see other people who have overcome their addiction and be encouraged.

No One will Judge You

You may feel ashamed or embarrassed and not want to discuss your addiction – especially with people who do not understand. The meetings you will attend can help because you can talk about your addiction at ease – there is no judgment. The individuals in attendance are dealing with similar problems and they are there for support just like you are.

Getting a Sponsor

The NA or AA meetings will help you meet a sponsor. This is an important part of your recovery so that you have one person you can call when you are feeling like you want to use again or just when you need someone to talk to or relate to.

Preventing Relapse

Twelve step meetings like AA or NA go a long way in relapse prevention. They are designed to keep recovering addicts surrounded by others who are able to give moral support and are extremely beneficial for anyone who is new to the recovery community. They provide a safe environment and they are anonymous which means a lot to anyone who is trying to be discreet.

Free to Attend

Perhaps one of the best things about those meetings is that they are free to attend.

You may hesitate to go at first, but if you are fresh out of rehab, the twelve step meetings are a great step towards continuing your sobriety. You will need the support more than you think you do and just going to those meetings can often mean the difference between relapse or staying clean.

In the event you have been charged with DUI, you are facing serious legal consequences that could have a profound effect on your day to day life. If your license is taken away, you may have a difficult time getting to work or picking up your children from school. If you end up in jail – that is obviously even worse. Some people who are facing a DUI case opt to go to drug rehab in order to have a better outcome when you have your court hearing in front of a judge. The bottom line is that going to rehab may decrease your chances of incarceration. When you take responsibility and go to a treatment program due to your DUI, the judge will see that you are trying to get help.

Many lawyers and legal experts will advise you that the best time to go to drug rehab or alcohol treatment in a situation where you have been charged with a DUI is right after it happens. It is likely that if you are dealing with legal problems due to your drug or alcohol use, drug rehab will probably help you in more ways than just getting through the legal system. In fact, the longer you’ve been sober and seeking drug or alcohol treatment by the time the court date rolls around, the better it will be for you when the judge makes his or her decision. Additionally, a lot of drug and alcohol treatment centers are happy to provide letters from staff psychologists or psychiatrists that can help your DUI case. As an added bonus at some “luxury” treatment centers, a court liaison is on staff to aid with pending court cases.

If you think about it, legal problems that come up due to use of drugs or alcohol may be a sign of addiction. Your substance abuse may be too much for you to handle on your own and seeking treatment may be a good idea anyway to get your problem under control. Treatment centers provide the structure needed to commit to a drug and alcohol free life in order to get things back on track when things seem to have taken a turn for the worse. Dealing with a substance abuse problem isn’t the end of the world and a treatment program may be exactly what you need – even when you didn’t know you needed it.

Treatment for drug or alcohol addiction comes with a high price tag. This is a very real concern for anyone who needs addiction treatment for themselves or for a loved one. Often, it’s one of the main reasons some addicts remain untreated. Health insurance can be complicated to navigate, as coverage sometimes depends directly on the person’s situation and specific policy. Since drug and alcohol addiction both have high rates of relapse, health insurance companies will often challenge you if you seek coverage for treatment.

Each substance abuse treatment center accepts different insurance policies. Many of them state that they accept “most major insurance companies” but others will accept health insurance from other providers as well. When it comes down to it, many health insurance policies do not specifically state that addiction treatment will be covered, but treatment centers know that drug rehab is a medical cost. Some of them will challenge the insurance company and help you fight to have your treatment costs covered at least partially. Specifics of how much will be covered will vary from policy to policy to some extent, so you will also want to contact your insurance provider directly to find out the details.

You will probably come to find out that there is no add-on to any health insurance policy that covers addiction treatment only. The question of a pre-existing condition comes into play so those add-ons are not even offered. Addiction is a medical disease, so you may get medical treatment. Health insurance policies should cover the costs, but you should know that it won’t always be easy.

Some services for addiction treatment may also be covered under your health insurance policy’s mental health benefits, but it may limit your coverage to outpatient services only. Many of drug and alcohol treatment facilities provide assistance via financial counselors who will work with you to verify insurance benefits and thus determine a financial plan to help you pay for your treatment program. They have expert knowledge of using both in-network and out-of-network health benefits and can better determine whether financial assistance is available and whether it is possible to be used with health insurance benefits.

Fortunately, the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 (MHPAEA) is a federal law that helps Americans receive treatment for drug addiction. It basically says that insurance providers are required to offer the same benefits for addiction treatment as they do for other medical conditions. Just a little knowledge will go a long way in helping to pay for your treatment when it comes to health insurance.

It’s a valid question that many people want a clear answer to – Is weed addicting? Is it possible? Unfortunately, the answer is not as clear as most would like. Some experts would say Yes; some would say No. If you are talking from just a physical standpoint, weed can really only be considered addictive with heavy, prolonged use. Even still, any physical withdrawal symptoms that someone who is addicted to weed would experience are more often than not due to psychological factors rather than by real physical withdrawal. Withdrawal from weed is not dangerous as it would be with alcohol or other drugs such as opiates. Because of this, many people feel that it is physically impossible to be addicted to weed.

From another standpoint though, there’s a strong case to prove that weed can be addicting, since so many people who use it are stuck in an addictive pattern. While not physically hooked on weed, it is being used as a crutch to deal with life – a coping mechanism, so to speak. People who smoke weed do it on bad days, to self-medicate. They smoke on good days to “celebrate”. During times of sickness, they smoke weed to feel better. This is a psychological type of addiction.

Anyone who is psychologically addicted to weed typically allows it to take over their life and define everything they do. For example, someone not addicted could just go see a movie. Someone who is addicted to weed needs to get high and then go to the movie. It is this way with most daily activities. It happens often when a person wants to avoid having to feel uncomfortable. Instead, they choose to medicate with weed and end up holding themselves back emotionally because they become unable to face any new issues in their life.

Weed is not as innocent as people make it seem. When abused, it alters the person’s mood, just like another other substance does. It dulls the normal emotions of a person and gets them high. A person who falls into a pattern of smoking weed everyday to deal with life is very arguably addicted to the drug. There are drug treatment programs which deal with addiction to marijuana. The detox process is not as intense as it would be for addiction to other drugs or alcohol but essential the treatment is the same in that the person learns to cope with life in a drug-free state.
